Blogging about the things that I love to do including learning and implementing homesteading, sustainability and permaculture practices into my daily life. I also use this blog as an online journal writing about the day in and day out happenings in my life which include balancing family, work and the needs of the homestead, all while keeping in mind that you have to stop and smell the roses and count your blessings along the way.

The homestead dreamer should really think long and hard before choosing between buying raw land and an established place with electricity...
Mmm- quiche is an all time favorite of mine! It's good with broccoli and onions as well. Will you post the recipe for this sometime?

THAT sure looks yummy!! I love quiche but haven't made one in years! Don't know why. I'm with TGITPD, I'd like the recipe too! Might just make one!...debbie
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! When my girls get to laying good again that will be on my menu!
ReplyDeleteThere really is no recipe for quiche I just use whatever I have on hand. I keep ready made pie crusts in the freezer, I have tried making them from scratch and I have learned that becoming a pastry chef is not a talent I care to nurture. I fill the crusts with a mix of spinach, (fresh, frozen or dehydrated), eggs wisked with some half and half or cream and some kind of meat and shredded cheese. In this case ham lunch meat cut up into shreds and sharp cheddar cheese. I use whatever seasoning sounds good to me at the moment, today I used plain old Mrs. Dash original.
ReplyDeleteI do a whole bunch of different versions of this quiche, sometimes crab meat and old bay seasoning or a southwestern version with ground beef and chili seasonings. The possibilities are endless. There is no set baking time, you just can look and see that it is nice and firm and the edges of the crust are a golden brown. Happy baking!
Hi Laura! I just found your blog today - I've been searching for homesteading blogs written by people in Florida, without much success. I live in central Florida also so I am interested in other Floridian's gardening insights and farm animal adventures. I will be planting my first raised beds this year, and hopefully adding some laying hens and meat rabbits. I have a super producing grapefruit tree and made grapefruit marmalade for the first time - yum! I also enjoy the Cold Antler Farm blog - a great read. I'm glad I found your blog and look forward to reading more.
ReplyDeleteSure looks good! I have used swiss chard instead of spinach before and it was good!
