I really hurt my back and tail bone once--but I slipped on ice.Joyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15471639876072617577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984988372879359533.post-29339487342910854972011-08-29T16:59:47.487-04:002011-08-29T16:59:47.487-04:00You were incredibly fortunate! A head injury that kept her hospitalized for three weeks, and months of rehab.

As someone who has worked with show horses and non show horses for my whole life, I would recommend ALWAYS lunging your horse before riding! Tack them up and lunge for a good 15 minutes! And make sure your bit isn't a painful one. Sometimes we don't realize how much the bit can hurt a horse. Some bits are just plain abusive :( Maybe have their teeth checked also! A sore tooth can manifest bad behaviors!
Horses are precarious animals!

I am trying to catch up with everyone :) I am so far behind..
Hope you are healing up nicely and your return to work is smooth!!!
Don't over-do it friend!!!!
xo, misha~from my front porch in the mountains~https://www.blogger.com/profile/18103990196491433325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984988372879359533.post-18020662714800115842011-08-26T22:01:45.010-04:002011-08-26T22:01:45.010-04:00Not sure how I found you, but just read about your...Not sure how I found you, but just read about your horse accident and just shuddered. We have horses and we've had some mishaps also, and most not even with our horses. They are such powerful animals and can be very unpredictable. My daughter is the rider and I'm the "barn keeper, stable hand". I'm always on alert and just pray she makes it over the huge jumps. I hope you are faring better these days and you will soon get back to the things you enjoy. We must take a deep seat (or bed), get a far away look in our, and cowgirl up. You have done this before!

Maybe something new and better is on the horizon and you need to be still to see it. I don't know, but I wish all good things to settle in your life.the wild magnoliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14355836751549469688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984988372879359533.post-512495837489844972011-08-15T08:59:22.775-04:002011-08-15T08:59:22.775-04:00Laura, I am so sorry to hear about your fall. My p...Laura, I am so sorry to hear about your fall. My paint gelding was a spirited soul also, and could never ride him without lunging him in a trot and canter for a good 15-20 min. to get the P & V out of him. I broke my tail bone once coming down a long huge slicky slide - not a good thing to lean back on one of those! I came off like a rocket and landed on my tail bone...so I know what your going through. You might put a strap on her nose to the breast collar so she can't throw her head around or a martingale. They work pretty good. I hope you heal quickly. Took mine a while, and for a long time it will ache when you sit for awhile. Be sending healing thoughts and prayers for your recovery...debbieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3984988372879359533.post-10255765421253952942011-08-14T22:39:34.597-04:002011-08-14T22:39:34.597-04:00Youch!
